Lovely Leaves

This lovely craft is super simple and inexpensive. It makes a great gift. Only catch is…you need to grab those leaves and make it now before their lovely colors disappear, if they haven’t already.

This simple craft only requires a few supplies. Keep in mind, the leaves will still fade in color over time but when you use washable glue you can simply wash off the leaves and glue and have the supplies container to make this lovely craft again in the spring.

  • Glass, heat proof jar
  • Washable craft glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Small amount of water
  • Colorful leaves or other thin plan matter (flowers)

Make sure your leaves are still quite fresh and that they are clean and dry. Clean and dry your glass container. In a small dish mix together about a tablespoon of glue with a few drops of water. You want your glue to be slightly watered down so that it is paintable to create an even coat on the glass and leaves.

Start with painting a small area of your glass and apply your leaf. Paint glue on top of the leaf as well to finish it. Keep adding more glue to the glass, applying a leaf, and covering the leaf with glue until your container is complete. I recommend leaving about 1/2 an inch space at the top so you can pick up your container with out getting the glue on your hands.

I allowed mine to dry for an hour and then applied a second coat of glue on top. The glue under the leaves on the glass took about 24 hours to completely dry. I recommend allowing at least 48 hours before wrapping if giving as a gift to make sure glue is completely dry. Handle gently.
